Christmas Break

Thursday was the last day the office was open before we closed for Christmas break. The office was so cheery and all the students/tutors seemed to be in an overly good mood. I think everyone was excited for a TWO WEEK break!
One of ESL (English as a Second Language) classes broke out the table cloth, the desserts and the soda. I think it was a perfect ending to a great tutoring session...
A lot of the students gave their tutors small Christmas presents....not only was it a nice way to say Merry Christmas but also as a Thank You. Not only did the students/tutors think of just their class but they also thought of the office staff. I was very surprised that as the day went on, the pile of present on my desk got bigger and bigger.

Funny story about the presents....Before I got to open the presents, one of the students comes into my office and asks me if I can read Spanish. I noticed she had asked and then made a face like she was hoping I would say yes. I couldn't disappoint her so I said, "I read a little of Spanish". By saying I read a little Spanish wasn't entirely untrue. I can read a few words such as: hola, adios, hombre and a few other basic words. Well, I opened up the present and I found this....All I could read was Amor, which I think means love. I knew the book was about Jesus because of the picture and I just went on and on about how much I loved the book. She was beaming...she was so happy that I enjoyed the book. Of all things for me to sortof be untrue about, who would have guessed that it would have been a book written in Spanish about Jesus and his love? Coincidence? I think not! Haha...oh goodness!

I can't believe Christmas is already next week...where has this year gone?
