Christmas Parades & Christmas Cards
Thursday night was Bakersfield's annual Christmas parade and it was getting a lot of attention throughout the city. Since we didn't go last year, I thought we should give it a try this year and see what all the hype was about. Laura (Steve was at work), Desiree and Brooke (Thane was in Iowa at an interview) along with Jason and myself bundled all up and headed downtown to watch the parade after work.
My expectations for my first night time parade were extremely high. The only other night parade I've been to was in Disneyland and it was amazing! Well, the Bakersfield definitely didn't compare to the Disney parade but it wasn't horrible. I can't really complain about a FREE Christmas parade...it just doesn't seem right. There were some cute floats with some great decorations (the pictures didn't turn out all that great) and some of the bands sounded really good.

Brooke did so well for being out and about later in the evening. Jason wanted to make sure she could see all the exciting floats so he gave her a boost. Yes, she is chewing on a cardboard postcard...Jason thought it might keep her occupied and quiet.
The parade definitely got me a little more in the Christmas spirit, as if I wasn't already super excited. Once we got home from the parade, we had a special orange box on our doorstep. Our Christmas cards arrived...I've been anxiously awaiting their arrival.
I couldn't let the cards sit in their box all weekend so today I spent a good part of the day addressing our Christmas cards in front of a lit Christmas tree and drink pot after pot of hot tea. Christmastime is such a wonderful time of the year!!

Card board is better than a dog chew toy. My boyfriend got our son a dog chew toy because he was teething and thought it would help him. It looks like you guys had a lot of fun at the parade! I've passed by Bakersfield many times going down to L.A., but never stopped there. Maybe on my next trip down I'll stop and look around.
