Laughing And Crying

Friday I received a letter in our mailbox that we had certified mail that needed to be picked up. I didn't want to go on Friday so I planned on getting to the post office right when they opened on Saturday morning...I actually got there 30 minutes early. Well when I walked in I definitely wasn't the first person in line and I couldn't believe my eyes. Not only was I about number ten in line, but I saw something that caught me off guard. I immediately thought, "this is blog material" and I pulled out my iPhone in a very normal, inconspicuous way and took this picture....
A lawnchair? She must have been to the post office a time or two during the crazy Christmas season. She definitely came prepared. I must admit that I was slightly jealous as I was continuously switching legs to put my weight out during my thirty minute stand in line. She even made a joke about selling her seat for 10 minutes for $5...if she would have offered it twice, I think I would have dug through my purse for the $5.
Finally, I got to the window and picked up my letter and the line was crazy. They were lined all the way through the office, past the PO Boxes and out the back door. I couldn't get everyone in the picture but I did manage to get the first part of the line.
I overheard a lady saying that she had to mail something the day before and she waited almost three hours. THREE HOURS?! Christmas makes people do some crazy things. I think one day of standing in line for that long would encourage me to do all my Christmas shopping by October the next year.
Now on to the crying part of my title. The weather in Bakersfield has been a little off the past few days and looks like it will continue being a little off for a few days into next week.Rain, rain and more rain is what the forecast is calling for. Bakersfield never gets rain, we're sortof in the middle of the dessert, so all this rain has put the city in a panic. Flooding has caused a few roads to close down and the rain has kept us inside all weekend. The pups finally went for a walk this morning in between showers and they were not liking all the rain puddles but they were so glad to get out of our tiny apartment. Jason and I went for a run this morning all bundled up in our rain gear...we may or may not have sung a little bit and did a little dance at the end of our run just so we could say we were "singing and dancing in the rain". I'm blaming our goofiness on our cabin fever.

That sounds like the weather up here in Sacramento! It's been pouring rain almost nonstop the past 2 days. It's suppose to rain through Christmas too. I am hoping to make a couple of trips to the snow if my work allows it.
