Doctor Appreciation Day

Today is Doctor Appreciation Day and we have a special doctor that we would love to show our appreciation to!
We wore our Penn State Anesthesiology jackets, we donated and wrote cute letters to Jason. Hopefully he will get the letters on Monday since he wasn't at work today! He was bummed because he said that "nurses get appreciated for a whole week and doctor's get one day...the day I'm off"

Jason is the best husband, daddy and doctor and we really do appreciate how hard he works for our family. We're almost starting year 3 of residency, which means 2-3 more years and we're done!! Keep it up, Dr. Conway!
And just because my husband is so sweet...
I had a sweet love note on the side of the bathtub this morning. I guess he wrote with Amelia's bath crayons last night during bath time.

Video Fun

Amelia loves putting lotion on after bath time and I got the cutest little video of her. Please excuse the crazy mom voice.

The Fashionista Strikes Again!

Yesterday was a lazy day--Amelia still isn't feeling the greatest and Jason is on night call so we didn't venture out to church. I know I should have gone but the thought of going by myself with a sick little one was enough to make me stay home.
We stayed in our pajamas all day and right before Jason was heading into work, he wanted to go outside and fill up his bird feeder. We have snow in our forecast for the next couple of days and he didn't want them to be hungry. My man is serious about his birds!
Amelia saw that her Daddy was getting his coat on to go outside and she says "Out" and then proceeds to go get her vest, her boots and her hat. She wanted them on and she wanted to go outside. She could live outside...the temperature doesn't affect her!
I tried to get her to wear a coat with some different shoes but she was determined to wear her vest and her bunny boots.
The below picture is so cute...she's already telling Daddy how to fill up his bird feeder. She has that finger point down!
She is such a big helper and she loves it!  Any chance she gets to help in the house or outside, she is all about it.
I also think she likes to be with her Daddy...these two melt my heart. I love to see their relationship grow with each passing day. They both have stars in their eyes when the other one is around!
Hurry up Spring...Mama needs to pack away the purple vest and the bunny boots!

Amelia's First Easter Egg Hunt

Our subdivision had an Easter egg hunt in our neighborhood park on Saturday morning. We were a little hesitant to go because it was freezing and Amelia has had a little cold the past week but we decided at the last minute that she would have a great time and we should load up to go.
Each family was to bring a dozen eggs for each kid and then hide them somewhere in the park--we chose to hide them in the grass out in the middle of everything since that is where Amelia would be searching.
Jason was on night call this weekend so he could go with us and watch Amelia at her first Easter egg hunt. Amelia is such a Daddy's girl right now and Jason is just eating it up!  He couldn't hardly wait to show off his little lady's egg hunting skills.
There were two groups: 0-5 year olds and 5-10 year olds. Amelia was the youngest one out there but she didn't let that stop her. We took the front corner of the grass and she was in Easter egg heaven.

She couldn't hardly concentrate on the eggs because she was more interested at all the kids running around.

She loved picking up the eggs, shaking them and realizing they had something in them. We had to pretty much take the egg from her hand and show her another one so she would temporarily forget about the candy in the eggs.
She finished the hunt with 10 eggs and 2 of the eggs had a "special prize" paper in them. We ended up swapping eggs with a little boy so he could get a special prize, we definitely didn't need two prizes! Amelia reached into the basket and got herself a bear dressed in a bunny costume. She knew what she wanted (I'm just glad she didn't see the hot pink princess bottle)
After the smaller kids finished hunting their eggs, they got to talk to the Easter bunny. I guess a neighbor went and rented this crazy bunny suit for the day...hysterical and pretty cheap looking.
We thought Amelia would freak out like she did when she saw Santa but she didn't seem to mind the bunny in the crazy polka dot vest. She was touching his fur and giving him high-fives.
We didn't hang around too long after the festivities were over because it was so cold. Amelia had such a great time hunting eggs and running around with the other kids. This was such a great idea for the neighborhood. We got to meet other kids and parents that live close with us that we haven't met before. I can see some great little friendships building!!

Bump Updates: Week 14

How far along: 14 weeks on Sunday, March 24, 2013
How big is baby: The size of a lemon
Weight gain/loss:  Gained 1/2 a pound this week.
Sleep: Sleep has been great and I still can't seem to get enough of it! I'm still averaging a good 10-11 hours of sleep right now.
Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Still choosing salty foods over sweet. I'm no longer getting sick after every meal so I'm going to have to start being a little more careful of what I eat.
Movement: YES!  I have felt the baby a couple times this week. Still takes a little bit for me to register that it's the baby moving.
What I'm loving: That I'm in my second trimester and I'm feeling so much better.
Symptoms: Increased sensation to certain smells, crazy mood swings and some serious bathroom issues. I've also noticed this week that my hair is growing at a crazy fast pace.
What I'm looking forward to: May 1st ultrasound so we can make sure we have a healthy baby (and we can find out what we are having)
Best moment of the week: Finding some great things at a neighbor's yard sale. It was mostly clothes for Amelia but I'm amazed at the amount of clothing, the quality and the brands that I found.
How I'm feeling: I'm feeling like the old Ashley, minus the tired part. I am so glad that I've been sickness free this week.

Mommy's Little Helper

Amelia is in the phase right now where she wants to help do everything she wants to do it all by herself. Even something as simple as walking...she wants to walk in front of you and she doesn't want you to grab her hand. SHE CAN DO IT!
A big thing that she is doing right now is helping throw her diapers away. She still isn't a fan of diaper changes but I always try to tell her that Mommy needs help once we get her dirty diaper off and that seems to appease her long enough so I can get her in a clean diaper.

She instantly starts clapping the second that the diaper gets sucked through the lid of the trashcan, she's proud and so am I. Most parents would be freaking out that she is carrying a 5 pound diaper full of pee from the night but I can't not let this little girl gain some independence. Don't worry--she gets her hands washed immediately after closing the lid!
So proud of our little girl that wants to help, that wants to learn and that wants to feel proud and accomplished.

Snapshot Of Our Life

  • Amelia can practice her driving skills anytime of the day...she loves being in the driver's seat. She makes the cutest little car noise and wiggles the steering wheel as fast as her little arms will allow!

  • There is a little dog at school that scares Amelia everytime she sees it. The dog is stuffed and it's about the size of my hand. It doesn't move and she is freaked out by it...she sees the kennel on the table and her breathing immediately shallows and she starts side-stepping away. She actually touched it this week (with my help) and I'm hoping we can conquer her fear of the tiny pup.
  • Today was the first day of Spring and Rita's Italian Ice gave away free icees. The office took a road trip to the nearest Rita's. We had a bit of a wait but we couldn't pass up a free icee. I went with a sugar free option (against my better judgement) and ended up throwing it away before I sat down at my desk. I need sugar...sugar free didn't cut it for me today!

  • These two, technically three, are cuddle bugs before bed. Amelia always takes the iPad to her Daddy to play BeJeweled or to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. When he isn't home before bedtime, she doesn't know what to do. Mommy isn't the same with the iPad as Daddy.
  • Amelia doesn't want picked up in the morning. She wants to point to her puppy, who runs as fast as he can to her in the morning. She usually greets Bazzle with the sweetest little "HI" in the morning. She usually grunts and points until Bazzle gets put in bed with her. She thinks that the puppy in her bed is so funny.
  • Amelia and Mommy have been trying to make dinner before we go to school/work so we can have something done and yummy when we get home. Amelia loves to help in the kitchen. I really need to try to find her a safe stool that can reach to our countertops.
There you have it...a snapshot in our lives.
Amelia greeted by the pups in the morning, usually resulting in a wrestly session in her crib; cooking fun (aka mess making) in the morning; driving lesson before school/work; school fun; icees during work; snuggle time with Daddy.
It's not a perfect life but it's our life and right now, it's pretty perfect!

Bump Updates: Week 13

How far along: 13 weeks on Sunday, March 17, 2013
How big is baby: The size of a peach

Weight gain/loss:  Still down 3 pounds
Sleep: Sleep has been great and I still can't seem to get enough of it! My bedtime is about 7:30pm and if I try and change it, I end up falling asleep watching TV. When did I become so old?!
Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Still choosing salty foods over sweet. I went a few days without getting sick but now it seems back in full force so I'm still pretty picky over what I eat.
Movement: YES!  I have felt the baby a couple times this week. The first time it was super obvious was when Amelia was sitting on me and I guess the baby felt super squished.
What I'm loving: That I'm in my second trimester...well, I will be in the middle of this week.
Best moment of the week: Hearing the heartbeat (177 bpm) and hearing that the baby was measuring right where he/she should be.
How I'm feeling: I'm having good days thrown in the mix of the bad days so I'm crossing my fingers that I'm almost done with the all-day sickness.

Easter Egg Training

Next weekend our subdivision is having an Easter egg hunt in the park and since Amelia is walking around pretty good, we are going to take her. We both agreed that we can't take her without her being prepared so we did some training last night before bed.
We started off by hiding them in really obvious, out in the open spots...
And then we started hiding them in spots that were a little more difficult...
She was obsessed with her Easter egg training and she loved walking in the room and spying the eggs around the room.
This little lady will be ready to take down those older kids at the Easter egg hunt...nothing wrong with a little friendly competition, right?!

*The below picture has nothing to do with the Easter egg training but how cute does Amelia look sitting on her daddy's lap eating grapes while he plays Wii.

Bump Updates: Week 12

How far along: 12 weeks on Sunday, March 10, 2013
How big is baby: The size of a plum

Weight gain/loss: No gain or loss this week.
Sleep: Sleep has been great and I still can't seem to get enough of it!  Daylight savings time is messing with the family's sleep schedule so it has been a little rough this week.
Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Still choosing salty foods over sweet. Sushi and cheese biscuits have been my weaknesses since the beginning.
Movement: Nothing that is super obvious so I'll just say no for now.
What I'm loving: That I haven't gotten sick for 3 WHOLE DAYS!
Symptoms: Increased sensation to certain smells, crazy mood swings and some serious bathroom issues.
What I'm looking forward to: My appointment next week so we can hear the baby's heartbeat and measure the growth.
Best moment of the week: Having a wonderful weekend with the family! We were able to get our garage more organized and we started talking about room arrangements.
How I'm feeling: Feeling so much better than the weeks past. I'm hoping that the all-day sickness stays away and I continue to have a healthy pregnancy.

Tuesday Thoughts

  • I have gone three days without getting sick...maybe, just maybe, there is light at the end of the tunnel?!
  • Amelia is learning so many new words. Some of her words this week are BLUE, DOG, YEAH
  • "If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all" is something that I try to follow and I wish others would participate too. People can have opinions but when other people's feelings are at stake, then they should keep quiet or at least vent to people in similar situations.
  • Jason came home from grocery shopping on Saturday and he had the prettiest bouquet of spring flowers. Major points scored for volunteering to go shopping AND coming home with flowers!
  • Our grill and our fire pit are outside and on the deck. Spring/summer is getting closer!
  • March 30th is Doctor Appreciation Day so we had to make sure that Daddy felt appreciated. He'll get an anonymous letter at work saying a donation was made in his honor and he'll get the little cards we sent in. I think he'll be super surprised.
  • Grandma Conway will be in Baltimore for a training next month and she will be able to come and spend the weekend with us before flying back to California. We love visitors!!  It's been too long since we've seen her so it will be good to get to spend some time with her.
  • Our little gummy bear gets measured again on Tuesday, March 19th. I'm excited to get a checkup and to make sure everything is right where it should be.
  • Amelia has started hiding her face when I try to get a picture of her. She should know by now that her Mama doesn't give up that easy!

  • The pups ran away last week when Jason let them out. Like disappeared and gone! Jason had to go searching and knocking on neighbors doors for them. We were both hysterical (I even left work to rush home to help the search) and we were calling everyone that we knew could help us. We didn't know if someone picked them up thinking they were lost or what but it was a super scary feeling! Twenty minutes later we found them...the longest twenty minutes ever! I guess the bushes smelled so much better 14 houses away!

March Weekend

This weekend was the perfect weekend to welcome us into March. The weather was beautiful, everyone was in a pleasant mood and we had a special visitor from the other side of the state (Aunt Diane).
Saturday afternoon we picked up some Subway and headed to the park for a picnic. Amelia hasn't been outside to explore since she's started walking, because it has been so cold, so this weekend was the perfect opportunity for her to get out and play.
Weekends with daddy home turns my girl into a Mama's girl into a hardcore Daddy's girl. She couldn't get enough of her daddy...seeing them together makes my heart so happy!
She was running from one side of the sidewalk to the other. She couldn't take in enough of the sights!
I think Amelia enjoyed the ducks and the geese that had gathered on some rocks in the middle of the pond. She was listening to their 'quacking' and she started making noises too. It was so sweet to hear her 'quack' back to them.

We got home from the park and we were all excited for the beautiful weather so we pulled out the lawn chairs and Jason started washing the cars. Of course my crazy girl wanted to help wash the cars (once she changed into her favorite vest).
We finished out our Saturday with a yummy birthday dinner for Aunt Diane at a cozy restaurant in town.
I think we all slept like babies that night...something about being outside and being active that makes for the best night's rest.
Sunday morning, (thanks to daylight savings time) we we were dragging. Amelia decided to nap when we should have been leaving for church so we just stayed home. We stayed in our pajamas all day. Who says you can't stay in your pajamas when the sun is out?!
We headed to the park in our subdivision for some afternoon playtime and Amelia was in heaven. Not only were their slides and swings but there were kids and lots of them!  She didn't hesitate climbing on the equipment to reach the top of the tallest slide on the playground.
Amelia would get to the top of the slide, make a 'weeee' sound and push herself towards the bottom. She did all of these with the biggest smile on her face. Don't you just love the princess pajamas with the unicorn house slippers/shoes?!  Our little fashionista has decided that she will only wear the unicorn shoes...mornings in our house are a lot of fun!
Once she would reach the bottom of the slide, she would flip over and try to climb back up the slide. I snapped a picture of her hair full of static. Her hair looks so long when the static is making it stand straight up!
When we left the park, we went back to the house and pulled out our grill and fire pit for the back deck. Jason pulled out the mower because he wanted to make sure that it would start after being stored away for the winter. Miss Amelia wanted to help her Daddy push the mower, even though she was a little nervous of it in the beginning.
Man, I want to rewind back to this weekend. We had such a great time, even though we didn't do anything. This week the temperature is suppose to drop back down in the 40s and it looks like our heater will be back to working overtime.
Looking forward to many more weekends like this one!

Photo Shoot--12 Months

Pictures got more difficult the older Amelia got but the older she got, her personality shined through a little more. We started out with her sitting on a little wooden chair, which she loved, and since she refuses to wear headbands and she has very little hair we ended up having to change her into something a little more girlie.
She is such a ball of energy and her smile is contagious...such a big girl!

It's crazy to think that we've had 12 months of pictures and with each month our girl keeps getting sweeter and more precious.
She's simply the best!!
