Weekend Ramblings

I feel like every post is a random ramble of our life but that's kind of how things are right now. I'm finding it difficult to put together a thought out post...ramblings are just easier right now.
It's Monday and even though the weekend went by too fast, I took a lot of pictures to document the fun!
  • Friday was our 5 year wedding anniversary. Jason was on 24-hour call (of course) so I gave him a goodbye kiss at 5am and then didn't see him again until he FaceTimed us at 7pm. I spent the evening hanging with this little lady!  She is really mimicking facial expressions and I think she is so stinkin' cute when she makes the "duck" face.
  • I got flowers delivered to work and I had to laugh at the card.  It looks like the florist is about 45 years off and they need to work on their spelling. HA
  • Morning and afternoon walks are a necessary part of our day. The fresh air and the exercise are so helpful! Amelia LOVES to walk in front of Mommy with the boys and then jump in the stroller when she is tired. I couldn't help but take a picture the other morning...just a Mom and her kiddos.

  • Saturday after Daddy had a good nap, we got outside and enjoyed the sunshine. We washed the cars, grilled on the back porch and went to some furniture stores to look for a bigger table. We sold our table to a newly married couple because we needed something a little more kid friendly and with a little bit more space. Amelia loved getting outside and helping clean Daddy's car!
  • Sunday we didn't make it outside until later in the afternoon because Amelia took a 3 hour nap. I put her down around 10am and was pleasantly surprised when she didn't wake up until 1pm. I think we all needed a good Sunday afternoon nap. Once she woke up, we immediately went outside. Rain was moving in the area so our pretty weather was about to expire and we wanted to soak up as much as possible.

  • Amelia is obsessed with trains and airplanes right now. Anytime she hears a train she says, 'choo coo' and she is searching for it and when the helicopter flies over from the hospital she cheers and claps with excitement. Her and daddy spotted the train on our was so sweet to see her face when she finally saw it.
  • Dinner was interesting because we didn't have the big table. We made due with our coffee table and our campfire/outdoor chairs. Eating was difficult but we managed. Amelia loves her outdoor chair so she was so excited to be sitting in a chair and not in her highchair.
  • FIVE more days until we are on vacation!  I've started packing a little...if I don't do a little at a time, then I get overwhelmed. We're so excited to see Grandpa and Grandma!!

Bump Updates: Week 19

How far along: 19 weeks on Sunday, April 28, 2013
Excuse the hair...I was only half-way ready for work.
How big is baby: The size of a heirloom tomato

Weight gain/loss: I didn't weigh this week
Sleep: I'm still craving sleep and any chance that I get to lay down and rest, I'm taking it. Being pregnant with a toddler is exhausting!
Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Craving any vinegar based foods or dressings and baby carrots dipped in guacamole. I have noticed my snacking in between meals picking up so I'm going to have to be sure to have healthy options in my desk drawer.
Movement: YES!  I really feel the baby when I'm laying down in bed on my back but this week I started really feeling movement when I would sit and play or feed Amelia.
What I'm loving: That vacation is only a week away...California is so close that I can almost smell the salt water.
Symptoms: The drool is out of control when I sleep and I'm going to the bathroom all the time. I barely make it down the hall to my office and I have to turn around and go back to the bathroom.
What I'm looking forward to: Our appointment on Wednesday for our anatomy ultrasound.
Best moment of the week: Meeting with a friend for lunch and getting the sweetest little outfit for Barrett. He's already loved by so many!
How I'm feeling: Feeling pretty good. No complaints right now. I'm still tired but I have been getting more spurts of energy throughout the day.

Best Friends Forever!

Now I see why Bazzle follows Amelia around everywhere, lays by her when she is resting and gives her extra love when we get her out of bed each morning. Amelia is Bazzle's best little friend and I think after seeing the following, I know why.

Amelia gets in the dog food container under the sink, scoops up an extra large amount of dog food,
proceeds to feed her brother until there is no more food left in the scoop and then goes back for more.
I had to stop the process when I realized that Bazzle was eating more than he should eat in the course of a couple days and neither one, him or Amelia, were happy about it.
I love that she is growing up with two sweet pups that love much fun to watch them interact.

Quiet Weekend

Since Jason was on nights all weekend, we had to be quiet during the day so he could sleep. Hence the blog title, "Quiet Weekend"...I know, I know, super creative! Thank goodness that the weather was sunny and in the 50s because we were able to take a lot of walks and spend a lot of our time at the park. Amelia is such a Daddy's girl that when he's home, he has a 3 foot shadow. She can't resist the urge to go and bang on the bedroom door and shout "Dadda" from the top of her lungs. Getting Amelia outside was Jason's saving grace this weekend!
We have a little park in our subdivision which is usually quiet with very few kids running around. This is perfect because as much as she wants to run with the big kids, she is still pretty slow and I'm nervous that she will get trampled. Amelia loves the park but she isn't quite big enough to run through the jungle gym/slide area on her own. She felt pretty big climbing up on this rock wall all by herself...she's getting too big!
Amelia definitely has the "water" gene in her. She can find water ANYWHERE...and the park was no different.

At first I was discouraging of her splashing in the water (there were little leaves in the water) but then realized she's a kid and kids like to splash in water, especially our kid. It also didn't hurt that I remembered I had hand sanitizer in the car!
I didn't get many pictures of her on the jungle gym side because she needed constant attention but I was able to snap a few pictures of her on the swing set. She was squealing, laughing and smiling the whole time!

I love the below picture because you can actually see her hair going all crazy...we're getting hair folks AND it's getting curly in the back!
After our playtime at the park and some yummy lunch, it was definitely time for a nap. Amelia is still in the cuddle stage when she is sleepy but she immediately wants in her comfy bed when she ready to sleep. She actually fell asleep in my arms and I just couldn't put her in bed. We snuggled in the chair for her afternoon nap and it was awesome. I miss times like this!
Once we woke up from our nap, it was time for us to wake up Jason for work. Amelia loved playing with him for a little bit before he had to go to work and I think Jason was excited for some one-on-one time with his little lady.
We hated that Daddy couldn't spend time with us this weekend (residency stinks sometimes) but we had a great weekend with just the girls. Sometime a little girl time is needed!

Bump Updates: Week 18

How far along: 18 weeks on Sunday, April 21, 2013
Disclaimer: I feel like maternity clothing makes your bump look HUGE.
How big is baby: The size of a sweet potato

Weight gain/loss: At my 17.2 week appointment, the scale showed I have gained 2 pounds.
I really feel the baby when I'm laying down in bed on my back.
What I'm loving: The thought of adding a sweet little baby boy to our family. Feeling the baby and seeing my belly get bigger is something that I missed dearly after delivering Amelia.
Symptoms: Right now, there isn't anything too crazy going on. I was a little nauseous this week after some meals and even got sick once but nothing too bad. I've also started drooling like a teething toddler when I sleep.
What I'm looking forward to: Our appoint on May 1st for our anatomy ultrasound and then vacation on May 4th.
Best moment of the week: Going through all of Amelia's old clothes and finding a few things that can be reused for Barrett.
How I'm feeling: Feeling pretty good. No complaints right now. I'm still tired but I have been getting more spurts of energy throughout the day.

  • My heart is hurting for our friends. They found out a couple of weeks ago that they were expecting a baby and yesterday she went in for surgery. She had a molar pregnancy and the growth had to be removed. Please pray for a speedy recovery for her body and for their hearts.
  • Amelia got on the step stool the other morning before school and was so determined to sit on the top step and brace her foot on the hall closet door. She looked so uncomfortable but she thought she was big stuff.
  • The weather here can't make up it's mind. Some days it wants to be summer and other days it wants to go back into winter. It makes getting dressed each day super difficult.
  • Amelia loves to play on the iPad before bed and this is how she usually plays her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She's obsessed with playing on her couch!
  • Muzzy, our second pup, is starting to like his sister a little more with each day. Usually he runs the opposite direction of her but this week they have been interacting a little more and I love it!
  • I came up from doing laundry to find this...yes, that is a plunger that she found in our hallway closet. Only my kid!
  • Amelia's amber teething necklace came in the mail yesterday and anytime she is awake, she has it on. I'm hoping that it helps ease the pain with these molars popping through.

So Thankful!!

I came in from a LONG meeting today to this....
Door decorated in all blue, a blue basket filled with some things for mama and for Barrett, a yummy cupcake cake with blue writing, blue flowers, blue streamers hanging from the ceiling and all on my chair.

Some days I don't know why I even get up to go into work...sometimes it's the last place I want to be BUT the group that I work with is so amazing and it makes work a little more enjoyable.
I'm so thankful that I have a made some great friendships here that I will forever be grateful for...they make being away from home a little more easier. I'm also so thankful for our healthy little boy, our little Barrett!

Weekend Visitors

We had visitors this weekend and we loved every second of it. Grandma Sue was in Baltimore for some work training last week and since Baltimore is only about 1.5 hours away from Hershey, she decided to extend her trip by a few days. She arrived around bedtime on Thursday and was able to hang out with us until lunchtime on Sunday.
Not only did we have Grandma to hang out with but Andy and Alissa decided to come for the weekend. Friday was Andy's 30th birthday and we're so glad that we got to spend his birthday weekend with him!
On Friday we made sure to grab some groceries, some birthday decorations and a cake mix so we could celebrate!  We went to a hibachi grill for lunch...sushi is a must when Grandma Sue and Alissa come into town!!

Friday evening was pretty low-key. We stayed home and grilled burgers. Amelia loved having so many people that she could entertain and that would try to entertain her.
We told of our 'gender' surprise Friday after dinner and we extended an invitation to Grandma Sue and to Andy and Alissa. Our appointment was scheduled for Saturday at 11:30am, we planned on a yummy lunch on the river, a trip to Chocolate World and a night of grilling, card playing and sitting in front of the fire pit.
We got a pair of sunglasses for Amelia to wear this summer and we've been practicing with them. Here she was on our way to the ultrasound appointment...she's so stinkin' cute!
Daddy and Amelia on the chocolate tour at Chocolate World. She was a little unsure in the beginning but once the cows started singing, she couldn't take her eyes off of anything!
We came home and enjoyed a little outside time...Amelia could live outdoors!  She pretty much begs to go outside anytime that the door opens.

She also did a little painting for Grandpa. Grandpa Conway had to stay in California so he was feeling a little left out. Amelia wanted to make sure that he felt special so she painted him a picture.
We ended the night sitting around the fire pit. Jason worked so hard to gather wood for the pit and he was so proud of himself when he got it going. Amelia loved sitting by the fire...she kept pointing at it and saying "hot".
We had such a great, relaxing weekend with everyone. We were sad to see everyone leave on Sunday, especially Amelia. She kept going to the room where Grandma was staying and banging on the door. She wanted someone other than Mommy and Daddy to show her some attention.
Already wondering when we will get to see everyone again. We'll be in California in a couple weeks to see Grandpa and Grandma Conway and we're talking about taking a trip one weekend to Michigan (when Nana moves to PA) to see Andy and Alissa.

Bump Updates: Week 17

How far along: 17 weeks on Sunday, April 14, 2013
How big is baby: The size of an onion
Weight gain/loss: Still boycotting the scale. I'll find out on Wednesday at my next appointment.
Sleep: I'm still craving sleep and any chance that I get to lay down and rest, I'm taking it. Being pregnant with a toddler is exhausting!
Diet/Cravings/Aversions:  Pickles, peppers and olives are still on my want list but this week I noticed that I gravitated towards the fresh berries at the grocery store. I almost ate a whole container of strawberries this weekend by myself.
Movement: YES!  I really feel the baby when I'm laying down in bed on my back.
What I'm loving: That I'm feeling better and that our visitors this weekend got to be here for the gender reveal.
Symptoms: Right now, there isn't anything too crazy going on.
What I'm looking forward to: Next doctor's appointment on April 17th and the May 1st ultrasound
Best moment of the week: Finding out we are having a little BOY!
How I'm feeling: Feeling pretty good. No complaints right now. I'm still tired but I have been getting more spurts of energy throughout the day.

We Are Having A....

May 1st is our appointment with our OB/GYN doctor to do the thorough check-up, the anatomy and the gender reveal. May 1st is also the first day that Jason starts a new rotation, OB Anesthesia, so a repeat of last year's appointment keeps coming up in my mind. For those of you that don't remember last year's situation...Jason was in a surgery and wasn't able to leave to come to the appointment with me. I had to find out the gender without my husband beside me. I hated it!
So...instead of waiting until May 1st, I requested an appointment at "Womb with a View" for a gender/sneak peek for my Mother's Day gift. Jason wasn't working this weekend and we had some very special visitors in town (Sue, Andy and Alissa) so we knew that this weekend would work out the best.
Since the baby is so small, we were only able to get some basic pictures, including some super cute profile pictures and the gender shot. I've always heard how expensive these places are but it was the best $65 that I've spent in a long time. I loved getting to find out what we were having as a family!
We didn't tell ANYONE what we were doing but we made sure to tell my mom and Jason's dad to stay close to the phone around 11:30 on Saturday.
We arrived, filled out our paperwork and talked about how we would react when we found out what we would be adding to our family in September. We both said that we would be happy but that we wouldn't be shedding any tears of joy.
Once we were called back to the room, we called Nana and Grandpa Chip and put them on speaker phone. We wanted them to be included...notice the phone in my hand.
The second that the lady put the jelly tipped probe on my belly, I immediately saw something. I knew what I was looking for and it just so happened that the little one was super cooperative.
We are having a little BOY! It was so amazing to see our active little guy showing off for us! Once I said, "we are having a boy" the tears of joy, which I swore weren't going to make an appearance, started flowing. Jason was so excited, happy and slightly  emotional. He always said he just wanted a healthy baby but he's over the moon that he will have a little boy! Amelia did so good in the beginning...she was so curious but it didn't take long for her to get protective of her mommy and to start crying. She kept wanting to lay down with me and to get that probe off my of my belly. Thank goodness for Grandma Sue because she was able to take Amelia to the play area outside of the ultrasound room while we watched our little gummy bear for a few minutes.
The lady who gave the ultrasound had to print out this picture because it was too funny. Our little guy was holding onto himself...HA!
It's so awesome to know that our little man will be here in September. Barrett Albert Conway will be a great addition to our Conway family.

Summer Weather

Spring was overlooked the past couple of days. The high has been 92 for the past two days and we decided that we were going to break out the summer clothes.
How cute does Amelia look in her sweet little dress and matching fish sandals?!
I'm hoping this nice weather sticks around...we're really loving it!

Tuesday Thoughts

  • It's 80 degrees outside and the sunshine is making me so much more productive at work, with the blog and with some things that have been on my to-do list for too long. Thank goodness for sunshine.
  • When we go for walks, Amelia insists on holding the leashes for her pups. She's so funny because if one of the pups stops to do his business, then the leash comes out of her hand and she is immediately reaching for it. Such a big helper!
  • I've been doing some cleaning and organizing lately and I came across Amelia's old pacifiers, which she never liked and never used. I put the pacifiers in the closet for the new baby and Amelia found one and decided that she would chew on it. She didn't suck on it...she just kept it in the side of her mouth and used it on her sore gums.
  • Speaking of sore gums, sister has been hardcore teething for weeks. Her molars are so close to popping through and it has not been fun. Her gums are so swollen and sore that she is even refusing to eat certain foods that require a lot of chewing.
  • Jason is 3 months away from being a 3rd year resident. Technically, we only have 2 more years here but he's leaning towards doing an extra year for a specialty fellowship. We're almost half way through the residency tunnel!
  • Amelia loves Ms. B!  There has been some drama at school with another little boy and some things didn't quite work out the best so Amelia is the only little one at school right now. We're praying for Ms. B and hoping that she gets some great kids soon!
  • The nice weather has encouraged us to break out the summer clothes. Amelia wore a short sleeved shirt, capris and sandals today. Most our pictures have a finger in her mouth...teething fun.
  • This week is filled with some fun and exciting surprises...stay tuned for a post later!
  • This cool girl is practicing with her sunglasses. She is so stinkin' cute!
