16 Months And 17 Months

16 Month
Your 4th molar popped through on June 9, 2013
You are saying Bradley, Robbie, down, out, 'cuse me (excuse me), oopsie, poo poo, wawa (water), popen (open), poo (pool), yes, peez (please), baby, why?,
You got a big girl potty and you say "poo poo" and you want to sit down but you don't realize that you need to go to the bathroom on the potty. You get off and then go right beside the potty. You are showing so many good signs about potty training but you aren't quite there.
You are obsessed with the Chuggington app on our phone/iPad. You love the theme song but then get bored with the game pretty much instantly.
You've really started becoming a Mommy to your babies. You wake up and immediately ask for them. You'll wipe them down with wipes, change their diapers (with Mommy's help), sit them on the potty and then wrap them in a blanket.
Everything is "Daddy's"...EVERYTHING!
You started running. It's so cute to see you raise your little legs and go.
You are not a fan of the nursery at church and you throw a major fit when we drop you off...it's so sad
You love to play outside in your pool. You're definitely a water baby.
You know that Barrett's room is for a baby and you'll ask to go in his room and look through all of his things.

17 Month
You are saying Nannie (what you call Nana), flowa (flower), toos (tools), bubbas (bubbles), tree, Babble (Bazzle), Mummy (Muzzy)
You can identify the following animals: dog, bird, bunny, elephant, zebra, lion, giraffe, fish
(the exotic animals are all because you love to read Noah's Ark and Barrett's bedding has circus animals on it)
You are getting pretty good at your animal sounds and you know what noise a cow, duck, dog, monkey, pig and horse say. It's so much fun to quiz you and to hear you answer.
You can identify your eyes, ears, nose, mouth, belly button, boo boos (boobies) and hair.
You've started walking up the stairs and holding on to the side wall. You still slide down the stairs on your booty.
You LOVE to help Mommy and Daddy with anything. You love to help clean, help build with "tools", water the flowers, fold laundry, carry in groceries, etc. Such a big helper!
You enjoy talking on the phone. Whoever calls must go on speakerphone so you can walk through the house with the phone held up to your ear and jabbering a mile a minute.
You got an ouchie on your leg and Mommy bought you princess bandaids. You actually kept it on your leg for a full day without pulling it off.
You started saying your prayers with us during dinner time. You usually want Daddy to hold your hands together and you've started to bow your head and lower your eyes.
You broke through your 13th tooth on July 25, 2013 (your right eye/canine tooth)
You broke through your 14th tooth on July 27, 2013 (your left eye/canine tooth)
You are still a Mommy's girl when you wake up and when you get tired.
You still like to sit on your potty, use your toilet paper and cheer when you feel you did a good job.

Weekend Review...Plus Some Funny Pictures

We'll start with the funny pictures...Amelia is at such a fun stage right now.
--She was trying to say "cheese" but it came out as this...we need to work on smiling and looking at the camera at the same time.
--Amelia is crazy about cellphones. She wants to talk on the phone all the time but she wants to talk to someone. We usually try to call daddy because he'll talk to her FOREVER but if he isn't available, she talks to Siri.
--Keeping clothes on sister is proving to be more and more difficult. She loves to run around in nothing more than her diaper. Our little lady is definitely not modest! Also notice the blanket...it doesn't leave her side for very long. She's our little "Linus"
Now onto our weekend fun...
Friday at work was so slow so I decided to take off a little bit earlier than usual for some much needed time with my girl. Jason was on call so we decided to grab dinner from McDonald's and head to Cocoa Castle (a super fun wooden playground).

We made ourselves comfy in the shade, opened up our dinner and just enjoyed the park!  Amelia really likes their cheeseburgers and fries, especially when she has something to dip them in. She'll eat just about anything as long as she has something to dip but she didn't need anything to dip her burger or fries in (that's how you know she is a fan).
After a few quick bites, we were off to explore the park.

One of her favorite things to do at the park is swing and at this park they had a swing that was for older, disabled children and Amelia thought it was the best swing ever. There were baby swings right beside the bigger swings but she was insistent on going in the big, green chair swing.

We played and played until our hair started getting sweaty and curling in every direction. You know it's a good day when your hair curls up from all the sweat. Nothing sweeter!
We headed out and Amelia was determined to carry the cup of ice to the car. She looked so big walking along the sidewalk with her super large Styrofoam cup from McDonalds.
Saturday was the day of my surprise baby shower so my mom did her best to keep us close to home so we could get in a good nap before the festivities.
On our way to pick up Lacey so she could get her car (or that's the story I was told), Lacey text me and told me that she had to shower. Since we were already in the car, we made a small detour to the park. Amelia looked so dang cute!  We snuck a little ponytail and a bow in her hair and she actually forgot all about it at the park.
We played there for about 20 minutes and loved every second of it.

We finished up our Saturday at the baby shower and visiting with our family that made the drive to come to the party.
Sunday was our day of rest. Aunt Diane spent the night and Amelia loved playing with her...they were so cute to watch!
We also ate WAY too many s'mores!  These were party favors from the baby shower and they were so yummy.
Our weekend was so good!  We were able to spend some good time together with the girls and we had a good day with Jason. Thank goodness this Sunday was one of his 4 days off this month!

Surprise Baby Shower

Saturday afternoon I was surprised with a baby shower, like 100% surprised!  I'm really hard to surprise because I'm pretty observant and a little nosey so the fact that my friends and family were able to pull this off is pretty amazing.
Lacey, my mom and Jason got a list of names together for the invitations and then decided on a party at Lacey's house.
The story to get me to the party was:  I had to go and pick Lacey up to take her to get her car. Her car was in the shop and it would be ready at 3:30pm. After we picked up her car, we were going to go to a late lunch with Amelia and my mom. (she later told me that she told me this so I wouldn't show up in a pair of yoga pants and a tank top).
Here are some pictures that were taken before I got there...

Lacey had everyone sign a cute little animal book...it turned out so cute!
We arrived at Lacey's house after a bit of a stall on my mom's part and Amelia wanted to see the kittens so I asked her if we could come in and play with her kitties before picking up her car.
Little did I know when I opened the door that everyone would jump out and yell, "surprise!"

Shocked is the perfect word to describe my initial reaction! Amelia didn't know what to think of everyone jumping out and yelling either but she quickly warmed up to the group! How so many people were able to hide their cars and keep this a secret from me is still a mystery!?
The food table was filled with some of the best food so we enjoyed a snack before we started playing games and opening presents.

Amelia loved helping Mommy open all the presents for Barrett. She even got a few gifts for herself, which made her beyond excited! The party was so much fun and we got a lot of things for Barrett, including a double stroller, swaddles, wipes/diapers and some adorable clothing.
The party wrapped around 5:45pm and all the visitors that came from the west side of the state came over to the house. We ordered some pizza, salad and dessert and we just sat around talking. The two cousins, Reid and Amelia, had so much fun playing with all of her toys. By the end of the night they were hugging each other goodbye. It was so much fun to have them together...wish they lived a little closer than 4 hours!
I wish I would have known that I was going to be having a baby shower because I would have made sure that I looked cute a put together. I wouldn't have worn jean capris with my messy hair...thank goodness I had makeup on!
I feel so blessed to have friends and family that put so much effort into a party for me!!  Barrett has just about everything he needs and we have about 7.5 weeks until his due date so I guess I need to get serious with finishing up the nursery and getting him those last minute things!

Bump Updates: Week 32

How far along: 32 weeks on Sunday, July 28, 2013
How big is baby: The size of a papaya

Weight gain/loss: I've gained a total of 16.5 pounds, as of July 19th. Next weigh-in is this Friday, August 2nd.
Sleep: Sleep has been pretty good this week. I'm still achy on my left side and still getting up multiple times a night to go to the bathroom but I feel pretty well rested when I get up in the morning. Still waking up to a pile of drool on my pillow and some shakes by Jason to tell me to stop snoring.
Diet/Cravings/Aversions: I'm not craving a certain food, which is so odd because I craved like crazy with Amelia, but I'm hungry all day long!
Movement: YES!  He's getting so strong and active and I can feel him moving in multiple places at the same time.
What I'm loving: That this pregnancy has been going so well, that we were blessed with so many great things at the baby shower this weekend and that we're so close to being a family of four.
What I'm looking forward to: Reaching full-term...only a couple more weeks to go.
Best moment of the week: Attending a surprise baby shower for Barrett and myself. I was so shocked that so many people were in on the surprise and I had no idea. It was so great!
How I'm feeling: I'm feeling pretty good. I've noticed this week that the burning, throbbing pain down below is getting more intense. Certain times it feels like I've already had the baby...so weird!
Just for fun...here is a bare belly picture and a covered belly picture.

Blessed Beyond Measure

Since Jason is on call tonight, he got to spend the morning with us. I didn't go into work as early as I normally would on a Friday because I wanted to soak up as much family time as I could. I miss him so much...this month has been so hard without him around and a morning together is just what we needed.
Amelia was pretty excited to have everyone on the walk this morning (Nannie and the pups came too) but she only wanted to hold hands with her Daddy. I don't think he minded one bit...I'm pretty sure he was beaming when she reached up and grabbed his hand. I wish I had a video because shortly after she reached up for his hand, he turned around and gave me the biggest smile and mouthed "look Ash".
She walked a little bit and then wanted to take Jason up on his offer to ride on his shoulders. She thinks her Daddy's hair feels funny and she loves to bend over and give him the biggest smile.

I think most of the mile loop was spent with Amelia on Jason's shoulders, Nannie walking the pups and me pushing an empty stroller. I don't think any of us minded because the weather was perfect for a morning walk and we were all together.
I'm blessed beyond measure with these two...my heart is so extremely full and happy!

Thursday Thoughts

  • Amelia is in LOVE with her brother's room and she is constantly visiting it and playing with his things. The other day she wanted Bazzle to put on a bib and sit in Barrett's bouncy seat. He didn't seem to mind it...he's such a good boy!

  • We have finally scheduled our maternity pictures for next week and I'm searching for the perfect outfits for the family. Hoping I can find some cute things pretty quickly so I can get out of this crazy, panic mode and into excitement mode.
  • The other morning when I was getting ready for work, Amelia wanted to brush her hair. I handed her a comb and she immediately ran to Muzzy and started brushing his hair. He isn't as comfortable around Amelia as Bazzle is, but he did great with her. She was so proud of herself!
  • The pups have a vet appointment on Saturday. I'm dreading their shots and their tests (yearly checkup stuff) but I'm dreading the large bill even more. I don't understand how yearly checkups for two pups can be such a LARGE bill!?
  • No words to really explain the texting that happens between my sister and myself...we're getting so old!
  • I have 5 ladies at my work that are having babies and 4 out of the 5 are having boys. Something must be in the water in Central PA.
  • Zeus, my office fish, made his way to the house and some little girl is in love. She feeds him every morning and evening and watches his bowl until every last piece of food has been eaten.
  • Jason is off this Sunday (first in a month) and I'm so excited. I'm hoping that we can go to church as a family and that Amelia will go to her nursery class without too many tears.
  • I've been researching rental cars for our trip to Missouri in November. It looks like we will need a big SUV or a minivan. I'm leaning towards the minivan but due to price and my hubby's strong disapproval of driving a van, I'm not sure what we'll end up getting.

Attached

Right now is proving to be one of those difficult, trying times when raising our child. Amelia is going through some separation anxiety and it's pushing all limits, especially mine.
From the second that she wakes up, she is the most pleasant little girl. She's singing, dancing and just excited to start a new day. She is excited for the new day as long as she is in my arms but the second that I put her down to get ready for work, make breakfast, shower or do anything that would require me to use two hands, look out!
We have entered the stage where Amelia whines, fusses and gets so worked up if I get more than two steps away from her and to say that it's exhausting, is an under statement. I LOVE that she wants to spend time with Mommy and she's a Mommy's girl right now but it has started to take its toll on me. I try talking to her to explain that I need to brush my teeth, shower or go to work but she doesn't seem to comprehend. I hate to see her get so worked up when she knows I'm leaving (it's the worst)...I can't handle the huge crocodile tears and the bear hugs that never end!

How long does this separation anxiety thing last?

My little lady is super attached right now and it's hard on everybody.
I hate to sound so down about it (I love our cuddle time) but I want to document this stage that we are going through. I know it's just a stage and it will pass and one day I'll beg her to sit on my lap and she'll hate every second of it!

Just A Girl And Her Nannie

We originally started out calling my mom "Grandma" because that is what all the other grandkids call her and I wanted to keep things the same. Well, once Amelia started talking she skipped over the "grand" part and just kept saying "maw". I didn't like the way that it sounded (too much like Honey Boo Boo) so we just started calling my mom, "Nana".
The name "Nana" was fine when Mom lived in Missouri and called every morning but the second that she moved in, Amelia decided to give her little spunky twist to Nana and she started calling her "Nannie".
I guess it goes with Daddy, Mommy, Bazzy, Muzzy and now Nannie (spelled with an 'ie' so she isn't confused for Nanny). It is seriously the cutest thing I've heard!
Amelia is adjusting really well to having another member of the family living under our roof and she will even ask for "Nannie" if mom isn't around when Amelia is looking for her. These two could live outside...they are always in the pool, looking for birds at the bird feeder, walking the dogs, checking the mail, etc.
I love that these two are developing such a strong relationship and I'm overly grateful to have an extra set of hands around the house. Such a blessing and an answered prayer.

Adorable Clothing

Are you a fan of adorable clothes??  Go to www.eShakti.com immediately and you'll find pages and pages full of adorable outfits. I was on the hunt for a maxi dress for this summer (knowing I would be big and pregnant) and had a hard time trying to get my 5 options narrowed down to 1. I finally found this dress....
This dress is perfect paired with a pair of flip flops for a hot summer day or paired with a pair of wedges/heels for a date night!  I'll have to get a better picture of the colors but for now, it's a selfie (in my work bathroom, nonetheless).
Once again eShakti has created a collection that is perfect for any body style. Where can you go right now, order a customized dress for your exact body style and have it delivered to your doorstep in a couple of days?!
With a 17 month old and a baby on the way, online shopping is becoming my first choice when it comes to buying a few new pieces for my wardrobe. eShakti made it so easy for me to go exploring and then when I found the dress for me, I customized it to fit my body perfectly!

Bump Updates: Week 31

How far along: 31 weeks on Sunday, July 21, 2013
How big is baby: The size of a coconut

Weight gain/loss: I've gained a total of 16.5 pounds, as of July 19th. I now start going to the doctor every two weeks and I'm hoping that I can keep the weight gain to a minimum. Next weigh-in is August 2nd.
Sleep: Sleep has been pretty good this week. I'm still achy on my left side and still getting up multiple times a night to go to the bathroom but I feel pretty well rested when I get up in the morning.
Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Soft pretzels have been my go-to snack this week.
Movement: YES!  He's getting so strong and active and I can feel him moving in multiple places at the same time.
What I'm loving: Air conditioning. This week has been so miserably hot that I'm loving air conditioning. If I go out during the day to run errands, I come back home and I'm exhausted. The heat can really suck the life out of my these days.
What I'm looking forward to: Reaching full-term...only a couple more weeks to go.
Best moment of the week: Hearing that all looked good with Barrett and myself from the doctor.
How I'm feeling: I'm feeling pretty good. Still no complaints, other than the fact that I'm getting larger with each passing day. It's harder to get up and down to play with Amelia (she wants you to sit in the floor with her) but other than that, things are great.

31 Week Appointment

This morning, bright and early, my mom and I dropped Amelia off at school and headed to my 31 week doctor's appointment. Appointments are every two weeks now, which means that Barrett is getting closer to making his arrival.
I love my doctor because she always keeps the appointment short and sweet but yet does a great job of thoroughly going over any questions that I might have.
I gained 3 pounds over the last 2 weeks...uh oh. These three pounds added to my previous make my total current weight gain to 16.5 pounds. I haven't been able to get out and exercise as much this week because it's been so dang hot but next week, when a cold front blows in, I'm going to really make sure to get out and get active.
Barrett's heart rate was 158 and he's head down. My doctor acted like he would toss around from side to side but he being that I'm 9 weeks out from delivery, he should stay head down.
When she measured my uterus, she also said that I'm measuring a week ahead. Maybe this is just the way little man is situated but hearing her say "32 weeks" instead of 31, made me a little nervous.
I was going to post this picture of me all dressed up for today but decided to keep things real...
The picture of me all dressed up was from yesterday. Fridays at work are "dress down", comfy days and I take full advantage.
9 more weeks, give or take, until we will have our sweet Barrett Albert in our arms. So excited but he needs to grow stronger and healthier in the mean time. Next appointment is August 2nd!

Mid-Week Randoms

  • I'm going to the dentist today..blah. I've been putting it off because some things that I read online said to not go to the dentist while pregnant but after speaking with my OB/GYN and my dentist, I decided to schedule an appointment for a cleaning.
  • Went to the pool last night to swim laps and woke up this morning with achy arms and legs. I didn't swim those 45 minutes very gracefully but I must have done something right to cause some discomfort.
  • A couple of nights ago I stumbled across some small rubber bands that I bought for Amelia's hair and decided to give them another try. She does not like any kind of bow or head band in her hair so I kind of just gave up on them for awhile. I put in a top ponytail and distracted her and was pleased to see that she forgot about it being in her hair. We've set a record for hair accessories...she kept it in for an hour!
  • Barrett can't seem to get comfortable this week. I love feeling him move but here lately he has been in positions that make me super uncomfortable. Walking has become quite a chore when he gets so low and on top of my cervix.
  • Zeus keeps building these bubble nests in his bowl for his mate to lay her eggs. Only problem is he doesn't have a mate in his bowl because he's too aggressive to be with any other beta. My OCD behavior doesn't like the bubble nest but every time I clean his bowl, the nest gets built right away.
  • I'm excited for my 31 week appointment this Friday. We're down to single digit weeks...crazy!
  • Amelia loves to carry her princess couch everywhere but her favorite place to take it is in the kitchen. This morning she laid back on her couch to enjoy her milk. Hysterical!  Love that little leg propped up on the arm rest.
  • My mom is settling in so well with our little family. She's such a blessing and I don't know what I would do without her. Amelia asks "Where's Nana?" every morning when she wakes up and then proceeds to wave and say "Hi" to her from the comfort of her mommy's lap.
  • Bazzle and Amelia love watching the trash truck every week. I love this picture of these two!
