Date Night, Gingerbread Houses and Snow

Our weekend was a little busier than the previous weekends but we are getting closer to Christmas, so I think it is to be expected. On Friday night we had a date night to a dinner with Jason's department for a lecture on a ventilator that can be taken to remote locations so under privileged countries can have surgeries offered to them, regardless of electricity. It wasn't a typical date night but we had a great evening. The dinner was at the Hershey Hotel and it was so pretty!  They definitely know how to throw a good dinner party!
The lecture was so interesting and the dinner was yummy so no complaining here. We also got to get dressed up, which doesn't happen all that often! I wish I would have had someone take our picture but a 'selfie' will have to do.
The food was good but the presentation was even better. I snapped a picture of our dessert but the salad and the dinner were just as pretty!
Saturday was a pretty lazy day for us. The girls went to the store to get a few groceries and the boys stayed home to bond. It was been so cold and windy that we didn't want to get Barrett out...he was sleeping when we left so we figured it was best to leave him.
The rest of the day was filled with fun in our pajamas and around 4pm, we were getting antsy. We wanted to go to Chocolate World and to see the Christmas decorations. Every year, they build Santa's house out of the Hershey candy and it's pretty amazing. We did the tour and then we made our way to Santa's house. This year did NOT disappoint...amazing!
Santa's mailbox was Candy Cane Kisses, Peppermint Hershey Bars, Twizzlers and Jolly Rancher impressive!
The siding on the house was Cookie and Crème bars, the window shutters were Hershey drops, the windows were melted Jolly Ranchers, the wreath was Kisses and the door was Hershey Bars. The sidewalk was Hershey-ettes (similar to M&Ms) and Reese's peanut butter cups.
Santa's house was so neat...some people's talent amazes me! Each year is a different house and even better than the previous year!
We ended the day with dinner and our pajamas! If you haven't figured it out, our family loves spending our weekends in our pajamas.
Sunday morning Jason had some work to do for his fellowship applications so we loaded up the kids and ran to the store. Snow was in the forecast and we needed a sled and something yummy to throw in the Crock-Pot. We came back home with a sled, some beans and cornbread and a gingerbread house.
Amelia was so excited to start on the gingerbread house OR maybe she was just really excited to eat all the icing and the candy pieces?!  I'm not sure but either way, the gingerbread house was a hit!

Look closely and you can see the areas(the tree and the gingerbread man) that were decorated by Amelia with no precious.
We all laid down for a nap and when we woke up, we were pleasantly surprised to see that we had some snow. We didn't get a lot (maybe 2 inches) but it was enough for us to go sledding!

Starting the sledding adventure from the top of the hill was a must...our little lady has a need for speed! Look at that smile...pure joy!
Our friend, Beau, from down the road wanted to come and play in the snow with Amelia. He was hysterical! He was so bundled up that he could barely move..HA!  Amelia loved him riding in the sled with her and being pulled around by the guys. They didn't slide down the hill because Beau is a little younger than Amelia and he wasn't so sure of the sled.
Barrett enjoyed watching us freeze our bottoms off from inside the warm house. He acts like he can't catch his breath when he goes outside in the cold and it freaks him out so we let him hang out inside.
Our weekend was filled with so much family fun that I was sad to see it come to an end. Thankfully Jason's schedule has been pretty decent this month (he has next weekend off too)so we can enjoy some more Christmas fun before the 25th.
