Randomness

  • We entered to win a free 4-day cruise to the Bahamas during a festival and we were called last week to notify us that we had won. We were hesitant calling the number back (scam alert?) but found out that we have to pay the taxes but they will pay for the trip, as long as we sit and listen to their lecture for an hour. Still deciding if it's a good idea or not....
  • I went to my first painting class this week. The painting was titled "Strut your stuff" and it was a colorful background with a peacock. My painting turned out a little picasso-y but I think it will be a great addition to my office!
  •   With vacation season in full swing, the kids haven't been at Ms. Bs. Today was their first day in a few weeks and they were so excited. Next week Ms. B will be on vacation so they will miss next week too. They love school and their friends!
  • The weather here has been cooling down a little bit so we've been trying to enjoy our early morning walks and our pool/sprinkler time as much as we can. Fall/winter will be here before we know it!
  • Jason has an anesthesia conference in New Orleans in October and I'm dying to hear from my supervisor if I have been given permission to take a few days off (it's close to a class start and it's a little intense during that time). I am so excited because we would have a few days away, in Louisiana and I might be able to see Megan and Camille. If you two are reading this, then get excited.
  • I've been searching for apartments in Ohio and we've found a few that we really like. We'll be taking a weekend trip to Ohio to look at them and to see which one we could live in for a year.
  • We'll be going to the orchard this week to pick some peaches and some blueberries...YUM!

All About Amelia

She can count to 10 with a little bit of help. She can usually make it to 4, someone needs to help her with 5,6,7 and then she can finish up to 10.

She LOVES to swim. She has a Puddle Jumper, life preserver, that she feels so comfortable in and it has helped her get comfortable in the water. She is now comfortable jumping off the side of the pool and going under--so amazing to watch her courage grow with each jump!
She folds her hands, bows her head and peaks out of the corner of her eye when we pray.

Her smile is amazing! She has the best smile and can melt anyone's heart when she says "I love you too"
She loves to craft--paint, color, cut, design! I'm always scanning the craft store ads because I try to stock up on fun craft things for her.

She is a little obsessed with "Hulyan Maya" on YouTube. It's a family that is crazy about Thomas the Train and she could spend all day watching their uploaded videos. It's so cute to hear her say Hoo-lee-ann and Maya

Cho, Apple and Gabby are Amelia's sweet babies. She loves them and is such a good mommy to them. I think she sleeps with at least one of them each night. She also sleeps with her blue (boo) blankie every night too. If the blanket goes into the washer, we have a cranky/upset little girl. She needs to know where her blanket is at. all. times.
She is an independent, determined, adventurous little girl. She loves to try new things and is so proud of herself when she is successful.

She loves to be praised and cheered on and will often showcase a new trick over and over again so she can be cheered for. For example--we are teaching Barrett to turn around to go down the stairs. When he does it correctly, we cheer. She will then go to the stairs, turn around, go down the stairs like we instructed him and then wait to be cheered for.
She requests chocolate milk and snuggles the second her eyes open for the day.

She has a great vocabulary and has recently added a new "adult" word. So upset at myself (because she said she heard it from Mommy) but we both know that some words are not appropriate so we are working on becoming better.
Amelia's hair is growing in thick and curly but we are still working on length. Bow, headbands and pony tails are ripped out almost immediately after being put in but at least she lets me put them in. We use a lot of spray in conditioner and bedhead is a serious issue in the Conway house with our girl.
She prefers soft, cotton shorts over jean shorts. "too tight" is a line that is used anytime we try to dress her. Dresses aren't the best for her because when she gets nervous she pulls up the bottom and chews on it....not good.

Our sweet Amelia Jean brings our family so much energy, excitement and joy. She is a pretty amazing little girl!

Vacation: Part 2

The second half of the week was great but it was different than the first couple of days. The polar vortex decided to make it's presence known and we had to alter our plans.
We spent some warm mornings at the pool but most of our days were spent around a warm fire, bundled up in jackets and exploring the area around the campsite.
Pymatuning Deer Park was one of our fun adventures. The deer park was about 20 minutes from the campsite and it was a walk-through animal park where the kids (and adults) could feed the animals, have pony rides and get up and close with a few exotic animals.
Amelia really surprised us during this outing. She wasn't too fond of feeding the animals but she took her first pony ride, rode the train with her cousins and fed birds from a large stick. I think it helped that her older cousins weren't afraid to try things so she wasn't going to be afraid either.
One evening before we left, we were able to get a lot of the Conway family together. We are missing about 8 people but it was hard to get a picture with everyone...our visiting times were a little scattered out.
The last few days were filled with more cousin fun, campfires, sparklers and anything else we could do.
We made our drive back home after breakfast on Friday morning. We were dreading the drive since the drive to vacation didn't go as planned but the kids were so exhausted from the week that this is what they did most of the drive...
We made it home around 4pm on Friday--just in time for dinner, some serious unpacking and bed.
Vacation was a lot of fun! It was so much fun to see the family and to be able to have the kids play together. We usually are only able to get together once a year because we are all so spread out and our vacation times are so sporadic but I'm so happy that we were able to make it happen this year. It was so much fun watching the kids interact with their family that they don't get to see that often.
Already looking forward to the next vacation...

Vacation: Part 1

Friday, July 11th, at 7:30am, we started our summer vacation!!  We squished our family of four (plus Nannie) in our car with a week's worth of clothes and goodies for the 5 hour drive to Shenango Valley RV Park. Our family was meeting up with the other Conway family members from Ohio, Pennsylvania, California and Alaska.
Jason worked 24 hours and got home at 7am on Friday--he showered and we loaded up the car. He planned on sleeping on the drive so when we arrived, he would be ready to play!
Have I mentioned how my children HATE car rides?!  I'm not sure he slept for more than an hour the entire trip but he was such a good team player.
I packed play dough, books, crayons, a DVD player, the iPad, snacks, bottles and a few other things that I was hoping the kids would enjoy but realized that singing songs and playing "I Spy" were their favorites!
We arrived at the RV park a little after lunch time (we had multiple stops in the beginning) and as soon as we saw the cabins, we were so excited for the week ahead.
Two little cabins were tucked away in the back corner of the park, perfectly situated by the pool and the playground. They were the perfect combination of rustic and country!
The first night we stayed in Black Bear cabin because we were originally going to stay with Chip and Sue but after a rough night with the kids, we decided that the smaller cabin would make more sense. Andrew and Holly, along with Chip, Sue and Tim weren't scheduled to arrive until Saturday afternoon so we had the evening to explore the area and move over all of the food and our clothes to the other cabin.
The first thing on our list was the pool!  If you look in the background of the picture below you can see the playground. We literally went from pool, to playground and then back to the pool. HA!
Amelia couldn't get in her swimsuit fast enough...she has really loved the pool this summer. We enjoyed a little bit of time in the pool, a few trips down the slide and a quick dinner before bed.
We were all pretty tired from the drive and we were all excited for the upcoming week and we wanted to be well-rested for upcoming activities!
We woke up the next day, headed to the pool and as we were enjoying lunch, the Conway family from Alaska arrived. Andrew, Holly, Lance and Lexie had a little bit of a delay from their flight but after some long travel days, they finally arrived. Amelia was shy at first but quickly warmed up to her cousins. They started searching for worms, frogs and bugs.
Grandpa, Grandma and Uncle Tim arrived later in the afternoon and Amelia was quick to show off all the crawly creatures that they had caught.
The next couple of days were filled with a lot of swimming, family time, grilling and cousin fun!
