Moving Update: February

I've asked around for different people to save us boxes and newspapers so we have started building up a pretty good supply. I love plastic storage totes so I was able to get a few of them when they went on sale after Christmas.

We've patched all the dents and deep scratches in the walls, painted the bathrooms, painted the railings and touched up the rest of the walls in the house. This was such a pain because only one thing could be done at a time...two kids that LOVE to touch wet paint made painting a struggle!

All the closets have been cleaned out and multiple trips were made to the Salvation Army. It feels so good to have organized, thinned out closets. I know this will make the packing and moving process so much easier. Moving only good stuff is a great feeling!

We showed our house for the first time (before it went on the market) to a couple from church that heard we were selling it. We also got a few emails from other residents that showed interest so I'm hoping that this is a good sign.

We obtained our personal property taxes and we dug out our deed. Both of theses items are needed for the realtor to list our house. The stress of just finding these documents was crazy...I'm hoping this process goes easy on my nerves because I don't know if I can handle it!

We made an appointment with the real estate agent to put the house on the market. He's coming out March 2nd to take pictures, do measurements and to get the final details to put it on the market.

We packed our first box on February 24th. It was surreal, sad, exciting and proof that we really are a few short months away from moving. Ready or not!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Amelia!

Amelia didn't just get a birthday this year...she got a birthday week. We decided to start the festivities on Sunday afternoon because Jason was working late on Monday, which was her actual birthday.
She got one present...she chose the biggest one (of course) and we had cupcakes from the market.
I think we had to sing "Happy Birthday" about four times so she (and Bear) could blow out the candle. I think she practiced enough to be a professional candle blower by the time that her birthday party rolls around.
Sunday afternoon we had our first experience with the movie theater. We drove by the theater after church and Amelia seemed interested in watching the new Spongebob movie. We don't have cable so she's never watched an episode but she was pretty adamant and I wanted some popcorn so we had a Mommy/Daughter date.
We only lasted about 40 minutes before she was bored and asked to go home. I'm not a fan of Spongebob so I was more than happy to leave. I was pretty proud of my girl...I love watching her experience new things!
This morning was Amelia's birthday so she got to open another present when she woke up. She chose the next biggest package (surprise, surprise). Her excitement level was rising with every rip of the paper and it was so much fun to watch.
She got Doc McStuffins dress up clothes and she instantly had to put it on to show off all of her goodies.
She had a great day with Nannie and Barrett--so many people called and talked to her! When I got off work, she requested Chipotle (she calls it Poltchee) in Hershey. Both the kids love eating at Chipotle because they love to watch the traffic!
We finished the night with some frozen yogurt and a lot of giggles. Her birthday party is coming up so this was just the pre-game to Saturday. She's so excited...she can't wait!
Excited to have a fun, birthday-filled week with our three year old!!
Happy Birthday, Amelia Jean!

What I'm Into

Right now there are a few things that I can't go a day without and I thought I would share some of them, just in case you need a few things to add to your daily routine.

Every morning, first thing I do is put a mouthful of organic coconut oil in my mouth. The oil is in it's solid state but the second that it hits my warm mouth, it turns into liquid.
I swish it around in my mouth for 20 minutes (I shower, do my hair and my makeup) and then I spit it out. Oil pulling is suppose to help pull out toxins, clean and whiten your teeth and freshen your breath. I'm makes my mouth feel so clean and the coconut makes my mouth feel fresh!
As soon as I shower, I put on my Fitbit. I love to keep track of my steps, my heart rate and challenge with my friends throughout the day/week. It's crazy how a simple bracelet can give me encouragement when I feel like being lazy. Jason just got one too so it's funny to healthy battle my husband...sometimes it seems a little unfair considering his profession and mine.

I have also developed a love for a podcast called "Serial"--it's a podcast that explores a murder mystery in multiple episodes. The woman who does all the speaking is so soothing and the information is very interesting. It makes long drives and walks so much more tolerable! I typically listen to Pandora but this podcast is a great break in my usual stations.

Quiet moments. God forces me to slow down--pretty much every morning on my way to work (hectic mornings are pretty much a guarantee).
The train by our house is almost always crossing the tracks at 7:30am and I'm almost always forced to slow down, breathe a little deeper and have some time to do nothing.
Sweet little loves. My routine always includes these two sweeties and I love it. Smiles, silly faces and kisses almost always happen on my way out the door. I can always count on some extra lovin' before I leave and then for them to be up in the front window waving and blowing kisses while I back out of the driveway.
Just a few things that I'm "into" these days. Every day is new but these things stay pretty constant throughout my routine.

Valentine's Day: 2015

Our Saturday morning started off with our special surprises. The kids were dying to get their hands on their bags and their balloons. Jason was post-call (he got off at 7a) and as much as I tried to delay them opening their bags, I couldn't hold them off.
They each got a book--Amelia got a Star Wars book (she LOVES the movies) and Barrett got Thomas the Train (he LOVES anything that resembles a train).
They also got a lot of Dollar Tree finds--candy, stickers, inflatable swords, glow sticks and a balloon.
We enjoyed pink-filled breakfast--pink cinnamon rolls and strawberries was on the menu.
We spent the rest of the morning playing with our Valentine's Day gifts--it was definitely a nice and relaxed morning.
The rest of the day was filled with grocery shopping, naps, play dough making and dinner preparation. We wanted to have an extra special dinner for Jason since he had a rough day (and night).
So glad that I have three loves in my life...they mean so much to me!

We're Still Here

I just realized that it has been a little over a week since my last post. Life has been so crazy that I haven't really given the blog a second thought. The weather, schedules and a few other things have crept in on our plate and made our lives a little crazy!
Here are a few things that we've been up to over the last few days...
We found the cutest little "sticker by number" activity in the Target Dollar Spot. We spent an evening placing the sparkly stickers in their respected areas. Amelia LOVED this!
It has been so cold but we've been trying to get outside and to be active (thanks to our Fitbit) so we braved the weather one day. Barrett was pretty adamant that he wanted to walk both the pups. He's growing into such a big boy!
I took 1/2 a sick day last week because I had to go to the doctor and I wanted to spend some time with the kiddos. We went to the museum so the kids could run around and release some energy. Amelia spent most of her time in the grocery store and on the stage acting out the part of the cow in "Old McDonald".
Barrett loved the water table, the slide and running around the room like a wild man with a wet shirt. He loves to be big enough to be involved in all the fun things!
We baked Valentine's Day cupcakes and the kids were part of the baking fun (and tasting). Both of the little ones enjoy helping out in the kitchen...who can blame them?
We attended church and went to dinner at Red Robin (Amelia's new favorite restaurant).
Every night has been filled with a warm bath, bubbles and an occasional tootsie pop.
We even had a few mornings where Amelia got to enjoy breakfast in bed (5:30am) while Barrett slept and I got ready for work. Talked about a spoiled little one.
Makeup sessions are becoming all the rage in our house. Amelia can't hardly go to the store, to the library or to church without requesting her makeup. Lipstick and eye shadow are her go-to items!
I'll try to do a better job of blogging our life. I know that I'll kick myself later on down the road if I don't have these fun, crazy times documented.

Happy Friday!

Our weeks tend to start and end so quickly that by the time Friday rolls around, I'm left wondering where the time went. So...with that being said, Happy Friday!
This week we received the shirts for Amelia's birthday party. It's a Doc McStuffins party and I LOVE how their shirts turned out. Amelia enjoys getting mail so when we got two packages on Monday, she was pretty excited. Her excitement level jumped when she realized that the packages were for her birthday!
On Tuesday, Jason took me on a date....sortof. A financial advisor wanted to take us to one of the nicest restaurants in Hershey so we obliged and enjoyed a three course meal and a glass of wine. It was nice to have some time together and to have someone else pay the bill. HA!
I got a Fit Bit on Saturday so most of my evenings and mornings have been spent walking around the block trying to get in my 10,000 steps. One morning, it was 2 degrees, but it was so relaxing to walk around with everything quiet and still.
Amelia is still going to dance class on Thursday evenings--it's the highlight of her week. She really enjoys seeing her classmates, her teacher and learning new steps. Her tap shoe routine is still probably her favorite part of the class.
Barrett is getting so big and learning so much that each day is a new adventure with him. He loves to pick out his breakfast/lunch/dinner from the refrigerator and then he will run to his highchair. Those blue eyes and that sweet smile know how to melt Mommy's heart.
I went to Philadelphia once this week for work, Jason was on his OB month (long hours) and the kids had story time, a fun outing to the playhouse and craft time. I'm ready to have some time off this weekend to get a few to-dos marked off my list and to enjoy the little ones.

Proud Of My Man

The other night Jason was telling us about a procedure that he was doing. The procedure was so exciting, energizing and his face was literally lighting up as he was telling us about it.
After the story, he logged on to YouTube and showed us exactly how to insert a central line, an arterial line and a few other procedure that I couldn't even pronounce, much less spell.

I know my husband is a doctor, works in the operating room and spends WAY too much time at the hospital but this night, something hit me. My man is pretty talented, he has worked hard to get where he is and he has a stomach of steel to be able to do those procedures! I guess I didn't realize all the details that went into his "work day."

I love that he is in a field that he enjoys, a field where he can continuously learn and where he can help out others that need it. Some days/weeks/months seem so brutal with scheduling conflicts, LONG days, exhausted nights but when I hear stories from his days, I realize that it's all worth it.

I'm so proud of my hubby and all of his accomplishments!

SAMs, Snow & The Superbowl

After a long day on Thursday, our internet was acting up at work so I got to work from home on Friday. Our weekend consisted of the three S's. My little ones wandered around SAMs with me in their pajamas. They wanted to hold hands as we walked down the aisles. I LOVE to go to SAMs right when they open because we pretty much have the store to ourselves and the kids think that is pretty cool.
We brought in the water table and filled it with snow for some playtime while I had to do a little work. We invited some friends over for dinner on Friday evening so as soon as dinner was the crockpot, we had the rest of the day to play (and work).
Friday night was great. We had a fun night with some friends, kept the kids up way past their bedtimes and we didn't have any major meltdowns...success in our books!
Saturday we had a special visitor, did a few house touch-ups, went to Target and sent out Amelia's birthday invitations. Our special visitor was Ms. Lacey and baby Kai...Amelia was in love with him!
Sunday was the first day of February, church, nap and then a Superbowl party at one of Jason's colleagues house. Each person was asked to bring a savory and sweet dip and then we would go around and vote for the best. OMG...some of the best dips I have tasted. There were so many dips that I will be getting recipes for!
The kids came with us and they were smitten with Ollie, their dog. They were nervous and scared at first but then they warmed up to him as the night went along. Barrett couldn't get enough of the puppy and Amelia kept calling him "Marley"

We drove home from the Superbowl party in the middle of a snow blizzard and I was secretly hoping for a ton of snow so I could stay home on Monday. We only got about 1.5 inches and a ton of slush so I had to go in to work. Blah.
Monday morning was full of makeup and pampering. Amelia loves getting ready with me each morning. How sweet does she look?!  You can't see her 6 hair clips but trust me, they are there. She makes mornings a little bit better with her fashion tips.
We had a great weekend together and we're looking forward to the week! We have a lot of fun things planned this week: date night, dance class, hair cut and maybe a special visit to Chocolate World.
