Last August Weekend

This weekend we headed to the town square to listen to a live band and get some yummy ice cream. The band that played was called "Cats on Holiday" and they were a group of middle aged men that knew how to get the crowed involved.
My little ones heard the beats and they couldn't help but dance around!
We took a short dancing break to go and get some ice cream. I love how Barrett is looking over his ice cream to find the good stuff...HA!
We woke up early and hit one of the nearby walking trails. We've taken walks from the time that the kids were born so being outside early in the morning, is good for our souls.
Saturday afternoon was spent at the splash park. We love the splash park and we'll be pretty sad when it closes for the winter.
Saturday evening it rained so we stayed inside and enjoyed some puppy love. I know I've said it before but Barrett and Bazzle are the best little buddies. Case in point!
Sunday we went to church and then spent the day with our cousins, Jack and Wes. We had lunch at the house and then we went to a bounce house called Zero Gravity. It's got a space theme and the little ones loved it!!
I didn't get many pictures of the kids playing because it was dark but they loved it! They love being so close to their cousins...they love having built-in buddies!
We finished out the weekend with some biking adventures and staying outside until it was time for bed. We wanted to make the most of the warm weather and our time before the work week!!

Best Friends

These two Conway cuties really are the best of friends. They fight frequently but they are always showing me how much they really care about each other. When Amelia is at school, Barrett is constantly asking "where is sissy?"--he doesn't know what to do without her around.
Here are a few pictures that I've been able to catch of them playing and being sweet to each other.
God knew what he was doing when we had two little ones so close in age...he was giving them a sibling and a best friend.
Love watching these two grow in their relationship--such amazing little people!

Exercising As A Family

We've been trying to be more active--hiking, running, walking--and the kids are always eager to get out and exercise.
Barrett and Amelia get their running clothes on and we go for a run. The loop that we run is a little short of a mile and they do so well...like surprisingly well.
They start out running and they can run to the end of the road, until we need to cross, until they pause for a rest.
I take the stroller just in case one needs a rest but they usually can make it to the end. I love being able to be active with my family and to teach them the importance for a balanced, healthy lifestyle.

Weekened Recap

This weekend we tried out a few new things. Beechwood is a nearby city that has some really nice parks and libraries. We tried out a new playground and we had a picnic.
The playground had a fun section that was full of obstacles so we pretended to be on American Ninja Warrior. Amelia completed all the obstacles and was so proud! Barrett was in the swing--he gravitates to the swing almost instantly.
We came home for a nap and then we got back out that evening. Jason was on call and we all seem to be a little lost without him so we tend to keep ourselves pretty busy.
We spent the evening playing putt-putt golf. We went to nearby town to a little course called "Treasure Island." It was our first time playing with the kids and they loved it. I wish I would have gotten a picture of Barrett hitting the ball for the first time because he got a hole-in-one.
We finished and enjoyed some dinner and treats at the little diner right beside the putt-putt. We shared some dinner so we would have room for dessert. Dairy Island, the little diner, specializes in fun desserts.
The kids were in heaven! I wish the picture wasn't so dark but they were covered in ice cream and smiles!
The kids were both asleep before they made it home--such a fun day!
Sunday we headed to church and then went to the pool with some friends. It was a much more relaxed day that Saturday---we had to prepare for the week ahead. Work, school and house chores took a precedence. Excited for the week ahead and thankful for fun memories with the little ones.

Movin' On Up

Amelia has been going to swim lessons since the first of July and today she graduated from her Junior 1 class to a Junior 2 class.
I don't think she was expecting to graduate this morning but when she excelled at all the skills that they asked her to do, she was promoted.
We are so proud of our girl!
We celebrated at the restaurant of Amelia's choice, Chipotle!

Way to go, Mil. We are so proud of you and can't wait to see you excel in your new class!
Also, Barrett starts his class the first week of September. Hopefully we have two little ones that can swim by the time we move to Missouri!

Checking In

We're still here and enjoying as much of the summer weather as we can. It's crazy that we are halfway through the month of August, school has started back up and the summer weather will soon be a thing of the past.
We've really enjoyed exploring the area this summer--I think it's safe to say that we've found most of the free/cheap activities around our house!

Amelia and Jason went to the lake last weekend--the rest of the house stayed home and tried to beat the nasty cold that we can't seem to rid.
We've also been spending some time at our favorite park--we love farm animals and pony rides!
We are doing great and trying to explore and make the most of the rest of our summer! Due to our fun adventures...blogging has taken a back seat.

Barrett: 23 Months

-You got to visit with your grandparents from CA this month. You loved having some extra people to love and dote on you.
-You are wearing 18-24 month pants, 2T shirts and size 7-8 shoe.
-Your favorite, most requested snack is bananas.
-Your vocabulary is pretty good for your age. You can and will say just about anything. "I'm Sorry" is probably one of your most used phrases.
-You still struggle with the nursery at church. You scream and cry until I have to come pick you up.
-You love your cousins-you call them your "fwiends"
-You love watching Despicable Me, the Doodlebops and Toy Story
-We've started planning your birthday party..can't believe you're going to be two
-You enjoy looking through old pictures and identifying your family (mommy, daddy, sissy and bear)
-You can almost always be found with a ball in your hand.
-You can work any iPhone, open it and put in the password.
-You still don't like much meat. Hotdogs is about the only meat we can get you to eat.
-You love your puppies and take them for a walk everyday with Nannie.
-Your smile lights up any room that you walk into
-You have enough energy for 10 little kids. Constantly running, jumping and skipping.

First Day Of Preschool

Today, August 17, 2015, was Amelia's first day of preschool in the new school year. She started preschool this summer but that was just to get her used to the school.
This morning she was so excited to be in the "penguin" room with Ms. Brenda, Ms. Sandy and Ms. Kelly.
We had to take a picture on the front porch to document her first day of school. She was so excited and proud to be going to school and moving up to a bigger classroom with more of an educational focus.
On the drive to school, I asked her a few of her favorite things.
Favorite Food: Macaroni and Cheese
Favorite Animal: Zebra
Favorite Color: Pink and Purple
Favorite Princess: Cinderella
What do you want to be when you get older: A Mermaid
I got to wave at my sweet little girl on my drive out of the parking lot. You can see her sweet little face on the small side, right side of the window. She was all smiles when we drove off!
She was so excited with a little bit of nervousness but she rocked out her first day at preschool. My little girl is growing into a beautiful little lady and I love watching her grow, learn and step out of her comfort zone.

Grandpa and Grandma Visit OH: Part Three

Last night we went to a minor league baseball game, the Lake County Captains. Classic Park Is North by Lake Erie and it was a great night for a baseball game.
Our tickets were right on the third base line and we got to use the dugout like a table for our drinks. The kids loved being so close and watching the players.
The game started at 7pm so we made it to the fourth inning (about 9pm) before we decided to head home.
The game was so interactive and we really enjoyed supporting our home team.
The spray park was another place that we visited with Grandpa and Grandma. The kids love the splash park so we knew that we had to take them there.
The water was pretty cold but the kids didn't let that stop them. They were showing off on all the cool slides.
Last night was their final night in Ohio. We had a BBQ at our house and then they headed to the hotel when it got dark. We managed to snap a few pictures of their departure...we are really going to miss having them around!
Waving goodbye to Grandpa, Grandma and Uncle Tim. It was pretty sweet to watch them wave and yell "I love you" as they drove away.
We had such a fun week with the California grandparents. We'll have to set up another visit so we can start the countdown until we see them again.
