Thanksgiving Week

Last week was packed full of family fun. I was off work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and Jason was post-call on Wednesday, he was off on Thursday and he took a vacation day on Friday. We both had a five day break....and it was glorious!!
My cousin, Eric, and his family made the drive from Missouri to spend the holiday week with us.
We loved having them here and the kids loved having their cousin, Reid, to play with.
Here are some pictures of our fun adventures.
We went to eat at The Melt and we had an amazing dinner. Our favorite sandwich is the peanut butter, banana and bacon. Sounds horrible but it's amazing!
We visited Chagrin Falls...I love waterfalls and this one is in the cutest little town.
The Christmas Story House was on our to-do list. It was a rainy day but we didn't seem to mind standing in line with our umbrellas.
We also visited the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. We really enjoyed walking through all the exhibits--it was fun and interactive for the kids. We followed up the museum with some dinner and dessert in the city.
We had a lot of fun reconnecting and spending time laughing and playing the last week.
We had a great Thanksgiving much to be thankful for!!

First Snow In 2015

We woke up on the morning of November 22nd and it was snowing. It continued snowing and by the end of the day, we had four inches of snow. The first snow of the year and we got four inches of snow...oh boy. I have a feeling we are in for a real treat this winter. The lake effect snow buries Cleveland each year so I hope we are ready!
We went out before breakfast to sled ride and play in the snow. The kids loved it!
During Barrett's nap time, we headed to the park to sled down a big hill. After we got there, we were wishing that he had come with us because we had so much fun!
Later that evening, we had a special visitor. We have a lot of deer that pass through our yard and this deer is one that always shocks us.
It looks like he went and scratched on a mat and it got stuck over his antlers. It's been on his head for awhile and it doesn't seem to affect him but he looks so pitiful.
Hopefully the mat falls off in the spring when he loses his antlers.
I can't believe that we've already had significant snow and it's only November but we're ready for what the winter has to bring. It might be crazy but it's only for a short time and we're determined to make the best of it.

Ready For A Routine

Last week we were in the Dominican Republic sipping on fruity drinks and eating different styles of foods, this week I'm living out of a suitcase in Philadelphia, eating out A LOT and next week is Thanksgiving and our cousins are coming from Missouri for the week.
So much fun, so much spontaneity but being out of my routine for so long has me feeling a little blah.

About two months ago, I realized my love to workout classes at the gym (thanks to a friend) and I was feeling strong, healthy and confident. Fast forward two weeks and I feel like I am back at square one.

I'm ready for the routine, excited to get back in the gym and sweat and eager to keep moving forward.

Happy 4th Birthday, Reid

On Sunday we headed out to Home Depot to celebrate Reid turning 4 years old.
No rest for us...less than 24 hours after getting back from the beach, we had a party to attend.

The party was set up in a back meeting room of the store and it was perfect for a little boy's birthday party. Who doesn't love to hammer and build things?!

Each kid was given a wooden kit of a jet, a hammer, some wood glue and instructions---we had so much fun building our jets. Once the jets were made, the kids got a certificate and a pin to show that they successfully completed one of Home Depot's kits.

Reid's 4th birthday party was a success!  The kiddos loved it and we were thrilled to be able to spend so much time with them after being gone the previous week.

Dominican Republic

Earlier this summer we were invited to Jason's cousins wedding in the Dominican Republic. We looked over our schedules and knew that we wanted to go AND we wanted it to be just the two of us.
We made sure that my mom would be around to watch the kids and as soon as she gave two thumbs up, we booked the trip.
The weeks leading up to the trip seemed to drag but last Saturday, the 7th, the time had finally come.
We left for the Dominican early on Saturday and after a four hour flight, we arrived!
We spent the next week on the beach, at the pool, reading, napping, staying up late, sleeping in and enjoying our time together.
Here are some pictures. We didn't get many pictures because we didn't have our phone on us as much as we do at home.

We had a great time and I am so thankful that we were able to go and celebrate and to reconnect for a week. Looking forward to our next trip!
