Disneyworld: Day Three

Today we went to explore a new park: Epcot!
We had a few minutes to spare before our fast pass: Test Track so we decided to do Spaceship Earth. The kids (and adults) thought it would be a little faster so it wasn't one that we were thrilled with when we finished.
How sweet does my girl look in her ears?!
We literally had to run to make our fast pass and I'm so glad that we did. It was one of our favorites!! The kids each designed a vehicle and then we had to go through a series of tests to see who had the better built car. At the end, we went outside and did a loop around the race track. We got up to about 65 MPH and it was a blast!
Amelia's car beat Barrett's truck in all the areas, except in capability.
Before we left Epcot for our mid-afternoon rest, we had a fast pass to meet some of the characters. We didn't really meet any characters in the parks--the kids could have cared less and the lines were too long--so we passed them up. We thought we would see them though, since we had a fast pass.
Barrett was a little unsure but when he got to Minnie, he was no longer afraid. He ran up and hugged her...so sweet.
Dinner was at Epcot in Norway. We had dinner at the Akershus with the Princesses and Amelia was thrilled.

We finished dinner and took some pictures of the ball all lit up. We called it an early night because there weren't many rides that the kids wanted to do and we had an early breakfast planned for day four.
We enjoyed Epcot--we didn't get to explore the countries as much as we wanted but we had fun!

Disneyworld: Day Two

We woke up bright and early on day two because we wanted to see the opening ceremony at Magic Kingdom. I'm so glad that we did because it was our first day, our excitement level was at an all time high and the kids were awe struck!
The first stop we made was the carousel. It's the first ride we came to when we walked through the castle and they wanted to get on it...how could we say no to these sweet faces?!
We had a few fast passes before lunch--Ariel and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. The mine train was the second ride that we rode and it set the pace--fast and fearless.
We got an ice cream Mickey snack (Barrett got an Olaf bar) and then we headed back to the resort. We had a fun night planned and we needed to rest. We actually did this every day and it worked so well! Our crew needed to rest so we could stay out past dinner and ride!
Our dinner reservations were at "Be Our Guest" which is the Beast's castle at Magic Kingdom. My kids, especially Barrett, are obsessed with Beauty and the Beast so this dinner was the perfect location!
We got to sit in the 'rose' room and it was difficult for either of our kids to eat. Barrett kept watching a picture that would change from the prince to the beast every time it thundered and lightened. Amelia loved watching the rose and the dessert cart, which had the grey stuff.
Once we finished dinner, we got to meet the master of the castle, the Beast. Amelia wasn't scared but Barrett wasn't so sure. I'm so glad that we were able to get some cute shots of them meeting him--they love to look back on them!
Barrett was super concerned with why the Beast scratched the picture up (the one where he is a prince) so he asked him, from a distance of course. The Beast just showed him his claws and then covered his eyes. I'm not sure that was the answer he was looking for but it was enough for him to pose and get a picture.
After dinner, we watched the fireworks and then rode some rides. We had a fast pass for Buzz Lightyear and then we hit up some of the rides with the shortest wait times. Dumbo was fun and the kids loved being able to control him!

Day two was so much fun. I think we headed home around 11pm and the kids were exhausted from a fun-filled day!

Disneyworld: Day One

When we moved away from Ohio, we were talking with our cousins, actually Jason's cousins, about doing a trip to Disney together. They go to Disney all the time so we knew that we wanted to go with a 'professional' for our first trip.
We spent the night in a hotel by the airport on Saturday evening, so we wouldn't have to wake up so early and then we flew out bright and early on Sunday.
Aunt Holly made the kids some cute Disney shirts for the flight there. They were so excited to get to Disney!
We landed at 10:30am and we met up with our cousins and were in the pool by noon. Matt and Heather (Jason's cousins) didn't tell their little boys that we were meeting them so when they saw us they were speechless, literally.
So much fun seeing them together again after being apart for 9 months!
We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge Resort, which is a wooden and rustic resort. It felt like Missouri and it was perfect!
We headed to Disney Springs for dinner. We didn't venture to the parks on our first day, instead we explored the area. My friend, Lacey, from Hershey lives nearby so she met up with us for a little bit that evening.
Our dinner reservations were for the Rainforest Cafe. We've never been to one before so it was the perfect intro dinner to our trip. The kids loved seeing all the animals and the food was so yummy!
We were in bed as soon as we finished dinner--the traveling, plus the excitement for Magic Kingdom, were enough to wear out our crew.

Life Lately

Last week just about killed me. Amelia had soccer practice on Monday and then it all went downhill.
She was diagnosed with strep throat and a double ear infection, her antibiotic didn't work so after four days, we had to go and switch it out for something more powerful, she had an appointment with the ENT doctor and he suggested that we do surgery and put tubes in her ears.
She finally felt like getting out of the house this weekend so we headed to the park. Jason was on call so we went to the park and then went to eat dinner with him at the hospital.
Last week was such a blur between work and all the sickness, doctors appointments and everything else but I was so excited to see her smile this weekend!
She played her first soccer game on Sunday--it was freezing and she wasn't 100% but I'm glad that we are back on the soccer field. Spring is on it's way!!
