The Midwest has been hit by some crazy weather and Missouri has been right in the middle of all the storms. This weekend we were suppose to have track meets, which got cancelled, so we decided to head to our family's house a few miles north. Jason wanted to turkey hunt this weekend so he stayed behind and my mom, my self and the kids headed to Shannon and Katie's house.
It started raining Friday night but we weren't going to let a little rain slow us down. Oh my goodness. The hour and a half drive was crazy. It was raining on the drive but the crazy part was all the rain that was standing, covering parts of the road and gushing through ditches. Our area is flooding and it's actually pretty serious.
We had to take a different way to their house because the main road had water over the road. UGH!
We made it to their house a little before lunch and they had water in their basement so they were busy cleaning out all the water with multiple shop vacs.
Thank goodness it slowed down and we could enjoy our visit a little bit before the rain started coming in again.
When it slowed down, the kids wanted to take advantage of the all the standing water outside. They put on old clothes and jumped in muddy puddles. They loved splashing in the water and getting dirty.
I'm so glad that we were there to help them clean up and spend some time with them! Even though they are close, we don't see them as much as we would like!
